Registration is now open for Spring 2027 Medford Renegades Travel Baseball tryouts for ages 8U–14U.

Tryouts will be held on different dates based on age group:

Tuesday, October 6, 2026

12U — 5:00 PM

11U — 7:00 PM

Tuesday, October 13, 2026

10U — 5:00 PM

Tuesday, October 20, 2026

9U — 5:00 PM

Tuesday, October 27, 2026

8U — 5:00 PM

Registration is mandatory through PlayMetrics and closes October 4. (Link Below)

The number of 2027 travel teams at each age level will depend on the number of qualified participants.

Age Eligibility

The Medford Travel Baseball program follows Babe Ruth, Inc. age requirements. Players must attend the scheduled tryout for their age group, which is determined solely by birthdate. Players are not permitted to try out for an older or younger age group.

8U: May 1, 2018 – April 30, 2019

9U: May 1, 2017 – April 30, 2018

10U: May 1, 2016 – April 30, 2017

11U: May 1, 2015 – April 30, 2016

12U: May 1, 2014 – April 30, 2015

13U: May 1, 2013 – April 30, 2014

14U: May 1, 2012 – April 30, 2013

Tryout Format

Each player will be evaluated by at least five coaches representing different age groups, along with at least one member of the Baseball Executive Board.

Players will receive scores in the following skill categories:

  • Hitting
  • Infield
  • Outfield
  • Pitching

Category scores will be totaled and averaged to create an overall player evaluation score. This score serves as a starting point for age-level coaches when selecting rosters.

Age-level head coaches will make initial roster selections, which are then presented to the Baseball Executive Board for discussion and final approval by board vote.

We are designing the tryout schedule to accommodate as many players as possible. We understand that unavoidable conflicts can occur; however, the make-up tryout will be reserved for players with special circumstances who are unable to attend their scheduled age-group tryout.

What Does Medford Travel Baseball Entail?

  • The travel season typically begins in mid January with indoor training running through mid March.
  • Outdoor play typically begins mid March and continues through early to mid-July.
  • Travel is primarily local and includes participation in the South Jersey Baseball League (SJBL) as well as at least three weekend tournaments, generally held in neighboring communities.
  • All travel players participate in our in-house Renegade League, which typically runs from mid-March through mid-May once per week and is exclusively for Medford travel players.
  • Teams will also schedule weekday and weekend practices, scrimmages, and additional games throughout the season.
  • The skill level and competition are higher at the travel level. While our teams compete to win in league play and tournaments, the overall emphasis of the Medford Baseball program remains player development, teamwork, and creating a positive baseball experience for our players.
